Asbestos Management and Removal
Econ recognises the huge problem with asbestos and the dangers that can occur. We ensure the utmost precaution is taken whilst removing or disposing of asbestos, investing heavily in training to guarantee the most current and effective safety measures and procedures are employed. All of our operatives undergo extensive training and all have a minimum of three years experience in the safe removal of all types of asbestos. Our asbestos supervisor and operative training is provided by ARCA.
Econ offers the complete package to asbestos consultancy services. We are licensed by the HSE (licence number 4850402363) to undertake work with asbestos under the conditions outlined in the asbestos licensing regulations.
Asbestos Management involves several stages.
Surveys: There are three types of survey: Location and assessment, Standard sampling and Full access sampling. Our survey and analysis will allow us to help us provide clients with location ,extent and product type. We then can communicate effectively and work closely with each client to provide full satisfaction throughout the whole project
Risk Assessments & Method Statements. Risk assessments are produced by looking at the severity of the risk combined with the likelihood of risk . Method statements are produced to ensure the most efficient techniques are utilised .These are then submitted to and assessed by the HSE who are then notified 14 days before works will commence
The Work Area: An enclosure will be constructed in the area and all external openings will be sealed to eliminate any cross contamination of harmful fibres. A three stage air lock or decontamination unit is attached to the area to ensure all operatives are asbestos fibre free before exiting the contaminated zone.
The Removal Works: The removal involves wet stripping and injection of a fibre suppressant into all asbestos material minimising dust . All asbestos waste and debris are placed into a red bag which is sealed and diverted to the bagging airlock .This s then sealed inside a clean clear bag and transferred to a sealed, lockable skip for safe disposal at a licensed waste disposal landfill site. High powered vacuum cleaners are then used to removal all traces of asbestos fibres.
Air Monitoring: Airborne fibre levels are measured to ensure all asbestos fibres have been removed and a visual inspection is conducted of the area. It is our policy that an independent approved testing laboratory carry's out this air monitoring.
Personal Protection Equipment: Respiratory equipment will be worn in all working areas and all operatives will have received intensive training not only on the safe conducts of removing asbestos but also to the equipment used.
